Alone in Space

Linda lives in New Jersey with her mom. Her parents are separated and do not talk to each other. Linda tells her mom she is staying with her dad over spring break. Her dad thinks she is at space camp. Then Linda takes off for her own adventure of seeing a spaceport and maybe seeing a spaceship lift off. While wandering around, she sees a large spaceship and sneaks aboard. While she is exploring the control room, the ship locks down and takes off. She does not have a clue to the password for the computer that controls the radio, so she cannot contact Earth. There also is no clue to where the ship is heading or how long it will take to get there. There are twenty-seven others aboard, all in space sleep. Linda is reluctant to wake anyone in fear she could do them harm. So while she copes with being alone on this space voyage, her mom and dad begin their own journey as they frantically search for their daughter. Though it seems like Linda has just vanished, they will not give up looking for her.
