IBD and Chronic Recurrent Abdominal Pain

This collection of papers examines inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) associated with children, and focuses on both the immunological aspect of IBD and the traditional and novel treatments of the disease. Additionally, recurrent abdominal pain and children is considered. A significant proportion of out-patient consultations of paediatricians and paediatric surgeons is associated with recurrent abdominal pain. There is some evidence that suggests that the pain may be caused by spasmodic contraction of some region of the intestine. Children are more often characteristically rather anxious, dependent and timid. The diagnosis and treatment of this enigmatic disease are addressed by paediatricians and surgeons.
