The author (E. S. Szymczak), who writes under the pen name of Steven San Edward, was born in South Bend, Indiana, and graduated from Washington High School there in 1952. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps in the early part of 1953 and was discharged in 1956 with the rank of sergeant. Ed married his wife, Levada, in November 1955. They have three children: two daughters, Donna Marie Troyer and Barbara Cribbs, as well as a son, Edward S., Jr. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His oldest grandson, Jim E. Troyer, has just recently returned from service in Iraq and has been discharged from the Marine Corps. The author started writing in 1981 when random thoughts began flowing through his mind; this led to the compiling of, and later publishing of, his first book, Queens and Knaves, as well as the compiling and copyrighting of six more volumes of works, of which this, Spirited Inspirations in Clouds Across My Mind, is the second. Thanks and recognition are given to that special Cloud that came and kick-started all that has since come to be, being the force that causes the words to flow.
