Sportswriter Cassie Lawrence is looking forward to her first Super Bowl and catching a few rays in sunny Los Angeles. But the Super Bowl media circus is nothing compared to the real-life circus at her palatial hotel just minutes from the stadium. A young girl is murdered, and the prime suspect is Cassie's longtime friend and the subject of her current assignment, superstar quarterback Evan Syler. Evan will be playing in his first Super Bowl, if he isn't arrested first As Cassie follows the clues and a bevy of equally likely suspects, the killer follows her, ending in a showdown at a Hollywood mansion where the game at hand isn't just for table stakes-it's for life and death.
