Beth had always been fascinated by Mexico, and she had always planned to go there on a vacation. When her parents were killed in an accident, she had to drop out of school and get a job. While working she met her best friend, Maria, who later died mysteriously in a hit-and-run accident, but not before she gave Beth an important paper to hide for her. Beth, soon after, went on a Mexican trip alone, and there met three men whom she became very close to. One of them, however, was trying to kill her. Beth just wanted to be loved, and she resented the young missionary who told her to stay out of the secrets of other people, especially after Miguel, whom she loved as much as a brother, later disappeared. She vowed to his mother that she would find him, but she almost got herself murdered in the process. Why did the murderer want the paper Maria had given her? She finally did something she thought she would never do: she prayed.
