"...anyone who wants to change the world should be more humble."
“But what makes the future distinctive and important isn't that it hasn't happened yet, but rather that it will be a time when the world looks different from today. In this sense, if nothing about our society changes for the next 100 years, then the future is over 100 years away. If things changes radically in the next decade, then the future is nearly at hand.”
例如:Goodgle(垄断)和一间意大利餐厅(完全竞争)。
"Non-monopolists exaggerate their distinction by defining their market as the intersection of various small markets:
British food ∩ restaurant ∩ Palo Alto
Rap star ∩ hackers ∩ sharks
Monopolists, by contract, disguise their monopoly by framing their market as the union of several large market:
search engine ∪ mobile phones ∪ wearable
computers ∪ self-driving cars"
"...competition is an ideology - the ideology - that prevent our society and distorts our thinking."
"Rivalry causes us to overemphasize old opportunities and slavishly copy what has worked in the past."
“If you can recognize competition as a destructive force instead of a sign of value, you're already more sane than most.”
"Every monopoly is unique, ...share ...characteristics: proprietary technology, network effects, economics of scale, and branding."
4. definite/infinite + optimistic/pessimistic
(1) definite optimism
(2) indefinite optimism
(3) definite pessimism
(4) indefinite pessimism
“Outsiders are fascinated by the great fortunes being made inside China, but they pay less attention to the wealthy Chinese trying hard to get their money out of the country. Poorer Chinese just save everything they can and hope it will be enough. Every class of people in China takes the future deadly seriously.”
暧昧乐观的人们会继续做好或者稍微改进现有的事物,都是focus on old things instead of inventing.
5. Sales & marketing
Summary: "Our task today is to find singular ways to create the new things that will make the future not just different, but better - to go from 0 to 1. The essential first step is to think for yourself. Only by seeing our world anew, as fresh and strange as it was to the ancients who saw it first, can we both recreate it and preserve it for the future."
