First of all, The Design Of Future Things(DOFT) is absolutely a pleasant read. The author uses his characteristic style to illustrate a few important ideas as well as visions on the future things' design disciplines.
I've been interested in human-computer interaction and interaction design (as well as interactive storytelling) for a couple of years, and most of my thoughts on design comes from the daily life and those various thoughts (part of which involve future things), usually being inconsistent, are like discrete dots. To me reading DOFT is much like connecting the dots about the design of future things.
Maybe DOFT is not as impacting as The Design Of Everyday Things(DOET), and not as essential in terms of practicability, I think DOFT is more like a provoking starting point than a substantial practicing guide. We should always know that only the brave one dare to stand out and take the first shot on the edgy thing.
