Polyamines in the Gastrointestinal Tract

It is widely accepted that polyamines play an essential role in cell proliferation, and scientific and clinical interest in these substances is increasing. This volume summarizes the various biochemical, molecular biological, physiological, pathophysiological and clinical aspects of actual research with regard to the role and importance of polyamine metabolism in functional and proliferative processes of the gastrointestinal tract. Besides extensive overview lectures from leading scientists, the actual research topics of nearly all groups world-wide are presented. One main goal is to achieve a close cooperation and exchange of knowledge between fundamental scientists and clinicians.
