Where Prophets Are Killed is a collection of three novellas written during the past five years by the Syrian-American novelist, Lotfi Hadad, and translated into English by Zahra Jishi and Reem Salem. Real life people and situations have inspired the author in these writings. Together, they tell about religious and political conflicts in the Middle East from the standpoint of an intellectual who lived in the region for three decades and is now far enough removed to see the other side of the truth. The stories recount a prophecy for a better life at a high cost, noble goals baptized with blood, and an endless journey of a stranger in his homeland, and in exile. The collection sings for freedom, peace and joy in a time of oppression, war and despair.
