Zinnia Grey, a young, successful New York City psychiatrist, is lured to a rural northern New Hampshire town by recurrent dreams. In Milowe, Zinnia discovers her dreams to be flashbacks. Her birth mother was pregnant and murdered to end her pregnancy and protect the reputation of her lover, a prominent Milowe businessman. Zinnia, a toddler, was left wandering the murder scene and was never seen again. She was abducted and raised in New York state by a man and woman she believed were her biological parents. In Milowe, Zinnia meets Jake Martin, a widower with a young son, who is dealing with his own loss and grief. Zinnia, determined to solve her personal mystery and identify her motheras murderer, sets into motion a dangerous course of events that place her and Jake in harmas way. The story is brutal at times, passionate, steeped in medical drama and rooted in love.
