C. M. Fortenberry was born in Morton, Mississippi, in 1962 to William and Marie McCoy. She spent most of her time in the front yard with her sisters learning to play softball until she was old enough to join a team. Breaking her first window, she developed a love and respect for the game early in life. Playing for over ten years, softball was her passion. In August of 1984 she was blessed with a daughter, Danielle. Along with her husband they taught their daughter to play softball. While watching her daughter play high school softball for five years, she received her inspiration for a new book. A mother who was involved with every game and supported the team, she sat back and took everything in. She is now the proud grandmother of Tinly-Jo. She plans on teaching her granddaughter to play softball and to follow in her mother and grandmotheras footsteps.
