In this second novel of a trilogy, the alien Gnormen have returned home to regain Mekan, and left Ellen James and a new group of Gnor-humans to continue to build a future for the human race. Fearful of the projected future impact of current societal ills (a projection confirmed by a mysterious, undiscovered time traveler), Ellen seeks to reroute Earthas trajectory in the ultimate act of shepherding. The Shepherds of Earth picks up where The Synthetic Race left off, with the key characters taking on new rescues, including Antoine de St. Exupery and Edmund Fitzgerald. Once again the Gnor-humans take us on a thrilling trip through history and into our potentially troubled future. Using insight, foresight and a bit of sci-fi magic, the Gnor-humans are able to tame these threats in ways that will surprise as well as stimulate readers to look at solutions to todayas issues in a different light.
