Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, I was the product of a broken home during a time when divorce was not as common and acceptable as it is today. My family was from Tennessee, and I have a warm fondness for the Southern lifestyle. I always had a passion for writing. Like most children growing up in the 1950s and 60s, I witnessed the cultural and ideological changes of my era. The events that took place during this time are embedded in my memory and have influenced my feelings and writings. I served in the Army during the Vietnam War, was married in 1966 and had three children. Tragedy struck my life in 1987 when my beloved wife, Carroll, died of complications resulting from Lupus. My son joined the Air Force, and I dedicated myself to finishing raising my two teenage daughters. Now, with my children grown and married, I am rededicating my efforts to pursuing my writing ambitions. My poems have been secret over the years and unknown, even to my family and friends. Hopefully, others will now find my writing witty and humorous or even sad and tragic, but always with a ray of hope and purpose.
