When she fled the destruction of her home, Aidan expected to be hunted and killed. Instead, she found herself rescued by three men: an elf, a human, and a dwarf. Throughout their long journey, Aidan begins to trust these men. Yet, who they are remains a mystery. The human starts to take the place of her brothers who were killed. The dwarf merely follows his friends and finds friendship with Aidan. It is the elf that wins her heart. When they reach the capital city of the elves, Aidan learns that her safety is only marginal and that constant vigilance is required. A discovery threatens to undo everything she's spent the last weeks fighting to save. Will her heart be destroyed in the process?
