Imagine That is the memoir of a woman that begins with her birth and childhood in the south side of Chicago during the late 1950s. It examines childhood dreams that helped the author discover her passions as an adult. It describes a young girl losing her father in early adolescence, and into her chaotic twenties, where she experiences rape, but ultimately also survival and faith. Her thirties begin on a more stable path as a suburban mother of two, however, after Karla celebrates her fortieth birthday, devastation begins. Divorce, death, raising an ADHD bi-polar child, facing a terminal illness and drinking start an unbelievable destructive cycle for the author. Karla developed a new way of thinking and found the support necessary to see miracles in what may be ordinary to many. She began to see the beauty rather than the horror that each new day offers. The spirituality she has attained helped her to create a new sense of strength, wonder and joy.
