After leaving the U.S. Navy as an officer in 1985, Phil worked in a variety of engineering positions in small companies under contract to the U.S. government. In 1988, he and his wife moved to Orlando, Florida, where he was employee number 17 of SHERIKON, Inc., a small professional services company under contract to the military. When he arrived in Orlando, he found out he was now the new program manager. He led his team through several contract cycles, steadily expanding his business base. His career advanced steadily to senior executive positions, including general manager of an independent subsidiary. During his career, he directly mentored several people who have become successful in their own right. During this process he realized that there was a path full of steps to successful program management.
