Finding sheas Native American, she vows to learn all she can about her heritage. She also discovers her true Lakota name and remains Sarah Touch the Sky forever. After another tragedy, she returns to the reservation and finds that prejudice is there too. An exceptionally bright Sarah has to fight for education. She also has to find a balance between a hunger for God and traditional Lakota beliefs. The squalor of another reservation causes her great agony and leads to her conversion to Christ. Then she follows Godas lead and becomes a doctor. Now she battles tribal medicine men on a new plane Performing an emergency appendectomy on one medicine man, Sarah is observed in deep, fervent prayer. When he heals very rapidly, the medicine man remembers Sarahas prayer and changes her name to Talks to the Clouds. Maybe Wakantanka and this miraculous God of hers are the same.
