Ryan Balander, born and raised in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas, becomes fascinated with true crimes and serial killers after reading Truman Capoteas masterpiece, In Cold Blood. Little does he know what the small college town of Ypsilanti, Michigan, will hold for him when he transfers to Eastern Michigan University in the fall of 2002. He becomes obsessed with a local anti-hero, John Norman Collins and his crimes of the late 1960s in and around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. This curious fascination becomes his entire life; he visits the crime scenes, cemeteries and begins having dreams where the first victims soon haunt him with a vengeance. Soon, he ends the lives of seven more girls, all archetypes of the first victims. He also becomes an archetype, a pattern of young male serial killers stalking their prey. Prowling the campus area, Ryan creates a firestorm of fear and of savage murders with no rhyme or reason.
