Largely unseen by human eyes, the underwater sea forest of kelp hosts a medley of curious creatures. Under the kelp canopy exists a mysterious world with many unseen treasures. My desire is to reveal the hidden wealth of the California coast. The main character in the book is the California state fish, the Garibaldi. Gary Garibaldi in the California Kelp Beds is about the life of a juvenile Garibaldi who lives in the kelp forest off of Dana Point, and the various forms of sea life that he encounters as he matures to an adult.
