Every year, one young lady from Mitchell High School is crowned Persimmon Festival Queen during the annual week-long festivalauntil this year. On the third Wednesday before the crowning of the queen, the first contestant is murdered. One week later, to the day, another young lady dies. Mayor Morris, a devout Christian, seeks Godas direction for Chief Michaels and his police officers as they investigate the murders, struggling against time to prevent another young ladyas death.
