Pike's Peak or Die

Pikeas Peak or Die tells the tale of one familyas experience with the Civil War in the American West, a part of the war that was often more about treachery than about heroism. The gallant men of the First Colorado Volunteers performed as well as any unit in the war, both in marching through the Rockies in winter and in defeating a Confederate army determined to conquer the gold fields of Colorado for the rebel cause. But the glory gathered in at the battle of Glorietta Pass was squandered by the waras end in places like Sand Creek. Seth Miller, a soldier in the First Volunteers, is wounded at the battle of Glorietta Pass and nursed back to health by the Pueblo Indians and the Navajos. This is the story of the choice he must make when his comrades-in-arms set out to destroy the Indians who saved him.
