In 1851, young Belden Hill is on his first trip to sell the famous Gionetti wine in the notoriously wicked town of San Francisco. He is looking forward to celebrating his first night in the big city, well known for its disdainful and censorious saloons. The last thing Bel will remember is the sting of hot whiskey igniting the fire in his blood, sending him flying across the saloon to defend the most beautiful woman heas ever seen. When he awakens in a stupor struggling to clear the inebriated memory of the boisterous night, he finds himself in a hell hole doused in darkness, shanghaied to the wall of a dilapidated sailing vessel. Equally ominous, was the guttural moans emanating from the other end of the hold and the sobering fact that he was indeed, not alone. The ship, thrashing in the midst of a centurious storm, bellows her last breath as she is torn apart on the shallow shoals off the southern Oregon coast. Bel, along with a few others, are the only ones left alive. Together they weave a courageous tale of survival against an unforgiving land filled with Indians, deceitful miners and law-abiding men willing to murder for treasures hidden deep within the claim of an unforgiving shore.
