My poetry expresses my opinions and beliefs about love, life and death, God, the joys and frustrations of life, war and peace, significant individuals, nature and its beauty, politics and other insignificant issues. My poetry is straightforward. It is written simply, with no complex language or hidden meanings. It represents a middle-class American view of life in this world. I write what I feel inside. My poetry represents me. I do not claim that my view of life is the correct way others should view the world, for my poetry is not meant to persuade others. It simply represents my feelings. Whether my poetry is good is not a concern that I have, for I write for similar reasons that Dylan Thomas spoke of when he said, aThese poems, with all their crudities, doubts, and confusions, are written for the love of Man and in the praise of God, and Iad be a damn fool if they werenat.a (Dylan Thomas: Selected Poems: 1934a1952. New Directions Publishing, 2003.)
