Vengeance Trail is a western fiction novel set in 1870s Kansas when the country was undergoing a difficult transition from war to peace, providing fertile ground for lawlessness to thrive. An outlaw band called The Clemson Gang, spawned by Quantrillas Raiders, operated there. While rustling cattle herds moving from Texas on the Chisholm Trail was their specialty, banks and stage coaches were also on their agenda. Their leader, Gart Clemson, sought vengeance against anyone who harmed a relative or close associate. Ben and Jude Hardin are brothers who migrated to Kansas from Texas. Along the way, their herd is rustled, resulting in shootouts that decimate the Gang. Later, a friend is gunned down in cold blood by a vengeful Gart, and older brother, Ben, becomes a marshal bent on wiping out the Gangas remnants. He has many hostile encounters not limited to the Gang. The brothers both find romantic interests arising from harrowing experiences with Gang members. Steve Grady inherits Benas badge, which in turn is worn by Chuck Garrison. Both experience action-packed episodes, including one in which they are joined by Ben. The story ends with a trial in which Jude is accused of murder based on damning facts produced by credible witnesses.
