People the world over are basically good and decent. They all want the same thing, to live at peace with their neighbors and to pursue their opportunity of life. There are two things required to achieve these aspirations, the knowledge and the conditions that make peace and prosperity possible.Such knowledge and social/politicial conditions require verifiable moral values derived through the exercise of reason. But what we are being taught is based on the presumption that we cannot reach agreement, prove, or verify right from wrong. This is the message of both liberal and conservative ideologyathat people cannot judge for themselves, they must live obedient and subservient to some moral authority. The four principles discussed in The Sounds of Silence identify the values on which personal judgment, individual responsibility and liberty rests. Here are the ideals and principles our founding fathers envisioned. Here also are the underlying flaws destroying our liberties, prosperity and security. If you believe that America is headed in the wrong direction, here is the right direction.
