The prince is dead. Myron Bender has died and Bender Brothers, the retailing empire he founded, could be up for grabs. There might be a battle between his younger brothers, Morton and Milton, who came to America with him in 1901-teenage German-Jewish immigrants who began as street peddlers, graduated to a horse and wagon and finally, opened their first small store. And there are others who may have their eyes on the throne. But first, everyone must get ready for a funeral and it's during those hours that things begin to sort themselves out. Peddlers Three, spanning more than fifty years, takes the Bender brothers, and those whose lives are intertwined with theirs, from the poverty of Rivington Street to uptown luxury, through two world wars and the Holocaust. More than a tale of retailing and world events, it is about courage, determination, heartbreak and, above all, love.
