Darkest despair. Brightest hope. Poetry has been known to express both. This poetry is no exception. It is the expression of a soul lost to hate and the long, tedious journey back to the light. If one comes away from a reading of these poems with the belief that the words are the result of actual happenings, they would be correct. Hatred, confusion, fear, desire, love. They are all here, every emotion the human soul endures. Some more prominent than others. Some more compelling than others. Some more dominant than others. But all this emotion sprang from the heart. Stylistically, an attempt was made to write as if from different eras. Sometimes for effect. Sometimes for mood. Sometimes just for a change of pace. And in some cases, it was because of the natural maturation of the author. Remember, this was a labor that spanned a period of fourteen years.
