This novel, an epic nostalgia of World War II, is a love/espionage story about Zack Derream, Harvard-educated attorney and OSS officer, and Karlana Leyte, Dutch Resistance, who met and fought the war and their own constraints of love and death in World War II German-occupied Holland. Zack, Karlana, and Karl, another Dutch agent, met Maquis agents in France. Zack was captured and tortured and blamed Karl, a suspected Nazi.
