Although I ascribe to the philosophy alet the poems speak for themselves, a the poems in this book speak for a myriad of selves, in a multitude of voices. For twenty-three years, in my work as a psychotherapist and pastoral counselor, I have tended the wounds of the spirit and the lacerations of the soul. I have heard the dark pain that haunts restless nights and the bright hope that arises with the healing aurora. Such experiences, like incense from a censer, have permeated my work with introspection and reflection. Ergo, my poetry delves into the labyrinth of our fragmented, interior selves and the abyss of deeper, existential issues, intrinsic to the human condition and without panacea. Steeped in the dichotomies of anima/animus, love/loss, joy/despair, hopelessness/faith, hindsight/insight, and ontological anxiety/ontological guilt, the edges of my poems blend and flow into each other, taking us full circle in our journey; as, together, we slouch toward authenticity a to begin again and again and again.
