Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Gillard is appointed technical advisor to the UK shoot of a Hollywood Blockbuster based on an undercover operation in Northern Ireland that went spectacularly wrong. The film stars Rik Harrison as a world-class assassin, but he is less than in shape for the role, so when Harrison's stand-in is killed by a sniper's rifle, Patrick is asked to appear in the action sequences. Patrick's wife is doing some background research on the project, and when others involved with the film are killed she is determined to find the killer before her husband becomes the next victim.
