I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I always wanted more and came up short. I raised two kids by myself. Instead of crying I started to write. I learned a lot about myself and I learned a lot about my heart. I never thought a personas heart could endure so much pain and still keep yearning for love. I learned young what it felt to yearn for love. Like everyone does. From the moment we are born we yearn for love to keep us going. As we get older, we yearn for something more. Our hearts yearn for our parents and for our friends. As we get older, our heart starts to yearn for others in different ways. The heart yearns for family lost to death, and our hearts yearn for pain that others inflict inside. So, instead of standing alone, I wrote poems and opened my heart to others. My book, Heart that Yearns, is about everyday life and pain and a lot in between.
